Math
The program provides for the comprehensive, sequential development of mathematical skills. Manipulative materials enable students to move naturally from a concrete to an abstract understanding of mathematical processes. Students use both texts and workbooks to reinforce their computational skills and to sharpen their problem-solving abilities. Math is scheduled during a common block of time in grades two through five to allow the strongest math students to move at a pace that is challenging. Middle School students regularly work in cooperative groups on cross- curricular, “math lab” projects that require both mathematical and scientific principles to complete. Students complete Algebra I by the end of the eighth grade.
